These are part of a book of places in Tokyo of architectural merit. It's obviously a very personal collection, because some of the things in the book are things I would not have chosen. I guess that when you look at these lampposts up close, they are things of beauty, but the thing is, I've walked by them a million times and never noticed them. Even when I was looking for them, I asked in a nearby koban, and was told the street I was looking for was the street I was standing on. I realised that I'd walked past them again.
Well, the author of the Tokyo Architecture book has personal opinions about what should go into his own book, and now when I walk through Ginza, I'll always stop and notice the lampposts.
